How to Install Kernels on the HTC Droid Incredible

Now that you used the previous post to root your phone you will be able to do numerous things to enhance your phones performance. These things include longer battery life and faster processer. Let’s first get started by deciding what we want. You can select many kernels from http://hydrakernel.net/. Once you find the specific kernel you want depending on whether you want faster processor or a longer battery life. Download that kernel and put the .zip file somewhere you'll remember. This will be very important later. So now connect your phone to the computer via usb and select the usb disk mount option when it asks and if it doesn’t ask then drop your notification bar down and switch it to disk drive mount. Then when you are connected you can open the SD card drive and find your .zip file (kernel) and drop it on to the drive and let it transfer over. Now turn off your phone and wait a couple minutes and turn it back on by holding the power and lower volume button. You will find a white screen with some options. To file trough these options use the volume keys and select recovery by pressing the power button and it’s selected. This will take you to a black screen with green writing and then you must navigate to install .zip file from SD card and this time use the optical trackpad to click on it. Then select "chose.zip from sd card," by using the optical trackpad to click on it. Then find the hydra kernel that you downloaded and select it with the optical trackpad. Then it should say THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE just continue but click yes install. Then it will install itself and this might take a couple minutes. After this is it will go back to a list and at the bottom of the list you can click on GO BACK and then the first option will be reboot system, and select that. Then when your phone is rebooted you are done and what ever chose to do whether undervolting or overclocking your phone is now more enhanced. GOOD JOB! DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything.
