How to Install Kernels on the HTC Droid Incredible

Now that you used the previous post to root your phone you will be able to do numerous things to enhance your phones performance. These things include longer battery life and faster processer. Let’s first get started by deciding what we want. You can select many kernels from http://hydrakernel.net/. Once you find the specific kernel you want depending on whether you want faster processor or a longer battery life. Download that kernel and put the .zip file somewhere you'll remember. This will be very important later. So now connect your phone to the computer via usb and select the usb disk mount option when it asks and if it doesn’t ask then drop your notification bar down and switch it to disk drive mount. Then when you are connected you can open the SD card drive and find your .zip file (kernel) and drop it on to the drive and let it transfer over. Now turn off your phone and wait a couple minutes and turn it back on by holding the power and lower volume button. You will find a white screen with some options. To file trough these options use the volume keys and select recovery by pressing the power button and it’s selected. This will take you to a black screen with green writing and then you must navigate to install .zip file from SD card and this time use the optical trackpad to click on it. Then select "chose.zip from sd card," by using the optical trackpad to click on it. Then find the hydra kernel that you downloaded and select it with the optical trackpad. Then it should say THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE just continue but click yes install. Then it will install itself and this might take a couple minutes. After this is it will go back to a list and at the bottom of the list you can click on GO BACK and then the first option will be reboot system, and select that. Then when your phone is rebooted you are done and what ever chose to do whether undervolting or overclocking your phone is now more enhanced. GOOD JOB! DISCLAIMER: I am not responsible for anything.

Jailbreaking 4.0 on IPhone and IPod Touches

There is a very easy way to jailbreak 4.0 just by browsing the internet. First you have to click on safari on your respected device. Then in the address bar click type in, "Jailbreakme.com." When you get there it will tell you slide to jailbreak and in doing so it will start doing install the jailbreak once it’s done restart your device and you should see Cydia most likely on your second page. Cydia is an app that allows you to do basically anything to your device by allowing you to download anything to your device. Once you click on Cydia it will ask if you are a hacker or user, and unless you know what you’re doing, click on user. Then it will restart and bring you to another screen that will ask for a complete upgrade, needed upgrade, or ignore. To get max performance out of your jailbreak click complete upgrade, and your device will reboot. Then everything is done and you have endless possibilities to customize your device. I will so you one of the most wanted abilities which is changing your theme.

First Open Cydia and on the bottom click on the search tab. Then type in, "Winterboard," with a space after it and click on Winterboard and in the top right-hand corner click install then confirm. After it is done downloading you must then again reboot your device. So now that Winterboard is downloaded you can go to it and change many things from your dock to background. If you want more you can go to Cydia and go to the tab at bottom that says packages and you can choose from full themes or just a theme for your springboard. Then after you find a theme you like you can go to Winterboard and apply it. After you close out of Winterboard it will respring, which is a fast hard reset, and then when you unlock again it should be transformed into the beautiful theme you choose. If you need any help just comment below and I’ll get back to you within the hour.

Google Comes Out With Google TV

During the I/O developers conference Google unveiled Google TV. It most likely be known as GTV, and will be available on devices from Sony and Logitech as early as fall this year. Dish Network customers will have the advantage of having this service integrated into the service they usually receive. This program will use Hulu or amazon to find shows or movies that you might be interested in. So if I were to search, "The Office," it would come up with a list of possible trusted sites where you can watch that show, and of course this is powered by Google search. Along with this supposedly there is going to be a feature where u can translate subtitles into any language using Google's high powered translating program. I am very excited about his because they weren't talking about any prices for this and they mentioned that it will work on android 2.1 or later, which would allow anyone with an android phone to watch GTV.

Too Good to Be True?

In my previous post I explained how I was to purchase a phone with Wirefly, which is a cell phone selling company. I was going to buy the new HTC Droid Incredible for about 80 bucks. In the process I thought is this too good to be true? So i read the terms and conditions and found some interesting rules. First, if you move the phone from your service to any other person you must pay 300 dollars to Wirefly. Also deactivating or changing any service option on Verizon will cost you another 300 dollars. So this really shocked me and I don't think I will be purchasing from this website because of their ridiculous terms and conditions. I realized if I change one thing like 2500 text messages to 5000 that counts as changing my plan and will cost me 300 bucks. I recommend that you don’t use Wirefly unless you are sure you wont ever change plans which is still a big deal to make just for a discount.

Smartphone Trouble

Samsung Fascinate
Motorola Droid X
HTC Droid Incredible

Well in the midst of today’s day and technology age I have needed to get a smartphone or none the less decided to. Before you think, "oooooo buy the IPhone it's the best smartphone," I’m not an AT&T customer and do not plan to switch. I will also not start the common argument on whether the iPhone is really the best smartphone out there. So, I, not being able to choose my service based on chains built by my parents I am on the most reliable network, Verizon Wireless. There are three smartphones on Verizon that stick out for me, the Droid Incredible, The Samsung Fascinate, and The Droid X. These are all great phones, but now is where personal preferences comes in. The reason these are the three that standout for me is because I am used to my iPod Touch typing which is a touch screen, which rules out any phone with a keyboard such as blackberries. Then i also realized I download and use a loooot of ram and memory which brings me to this, all three of these phones have a 1.0 GHZ Snapdragon or Hummingbird processor. This will provide easy access through my phone and not slow it down while using multiple applications. Now that I narrowed it down to these three I need to narrow it down to just one perfect for me phone. I think I might have ruled out the Droid x already based on how big it is. It isn’t convenient enough to have a very large screen, but it does have HDMI output while the other two don’t. Then I realize I don’t even have an HDTV so that solves that problem and knocks that phone out of the race. Now down to the Fascinate and the Incredible. The Fascinate after testing it has a very nice 5 megapixel camera with flash. Then when testing the Incredible I realize it has a superior 8 megapixel camera also with flash. That is a big dent in the Samsung phones case toward getting purchased by my parents’ hard earned money, but it is not down for the count. The Fascinate does have a very nice 4-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED display that isn’t too big but is convenient. The Incredible has a screen that is 3.7 inches. I think that might tie it up again. Another very important thing is how the screen is controlled. There are two ways by pressure of static electricity from your fingers but thankfully they both are controlled the better way by the static electricity in your fingers. So now we are still tied. Personally i prefer HTC to any other brand of phones because of the reliability. This might be the thing to kill the Fascinate. HTC has released many other phones that have been doing very well in the phone market while the Samsung Fascinate is one of the first of its kind trying to hit the market. I also think that the Fascinate has lost because the screen isn’t worth it even though big is nice I will not be using my phone for multimedia. Multimedia is reserved for my iPod Touch. Also according to the Verizon Wireless website the Fascinate does not have a QWERTY key board which is a very big deal for me and might make me make my decision. The last aspect of this decision is the price. I like to save money even if it is not my money, which means I will use Wirefly to get the cheapest deal. The Fascinate stands at $10 while the Incredible is a little more expensive $80, this doesn’t change my decision so I will go with the Incredible and order it through Wirefly. Hopefully I am fully satisfied and once I get it and figure out how to manipulate its system I will post on how to do many things that aren’t usually offered to the average person. I Man OUT.

The Expected Peel

Do you have an Ipod Touch? Are you jealous of Iphone Users? Well there is a solution to avoiding AT&T service and the best part is you don't even need an Iphone. Now its your turn to make Iphone users jealous of your Ipod Touch. The new speculated Apple Peel 520 is a skin for your Ipod Touch that wraps around it and provides a slot for a sim card which adds capabilities such as: 3G service, Messaging, Voice Calling. This skin for the Ipod Touch is expected to be a minuscule 65$,which is really not that much of a price to pay to have 3G service on an Ipod Touch remembering the fact it doesnt have to be AT&T, and can be any service that uses the GSM network. Although China has reviewed this product and reported some small problems such as dropped and fuzzy calls and not to mention you need to jailbreak your ipod to use it. This device is sure to please many Ipod Touch users.
